“Wild Hogs” Movie Review

Hey, Frayed Wire readers! This is a review Josh made on his old site, but is now being moved here!

Not too long ago this decent comedy came to DVD. I rented Wild Hogs (this time not on Netflix) and began watching it expecting an okay Saturday-afternoon type of flick. And that’s what I got. It’s nothing too special, but it makes you chuckle a bit and keeps your attention (most of the time).

The story is about 4 middle-aged men, each with their own problems and concerns, who go on a motorcycle road trip to the Pacific. They agree to follow no plans or rules – just be free to do whatever they want.

Of course, the gang gets into all sorts of trouble on their trip. From tent fires, a flamingly gay policeman, and the nasty bike gang Del Fuego, the 4 “Wild Hogs” don’t have things easy. But they triumph over their hardships and save a town from the Del Fuego gang, and also their own crumbling lives.

While the story isn’t revolutionary (ahem…Without a Paddle), it leaves room for comedy. You won’t ROFLOL, but you’ll smile (sorry, I had to do that). The acting is fine, and so is the soundtrack. Wild Hogs is good as a rental, but not so much as a purchase. I was fine with watching it once, but I’m not clamboring for more.

Final Score: 6.5 out of 10
