In a move long overdue, I added months worth of posts to the archives page. Also, I organized the game reviews into a spiffy little box! The best way to see what I mean is to click the tab at the top of site. More posts/podcasts/page edits are on the way!
Also, I took down that “Best Game of 2009” poll. I mean, it’s December 2010 and I still haven’t made a post about it, so at this point we’ll just ignore it ever happened and move on quietly…
Josh60502, JustMattPwn3r, and LostAddict1993 meet up again to record a new episode of Frayed Wire X. Do they have an idea of what they are going to talk about? No. Does that matter? Def no.
Listen in for discussions about the lack of new posts on the site, the general suckiness of Sonic the Hedgehog, upcoming gaming consoles, and the public’s inability to accept change in games like Metroid: Other M and Final Fantasy XIII.
Due to some issues retrieving the snazzy intro I introduced last episode, this one starts off right away. U mad about that?

E3 is one week away from Monday. If you’re anything like me, you can’t wait to see what Sony, Microsoft, Nintendo, and the other big gaming companies will reveal during this massive convention. However, before anyone of importance has a chance to say anything, Frayed Wire will give predictions for what each of the big three companies will unveil. These three prediction posts will each appear on the site in the order that the press conferences will take place. Here’s the schedule:
Monday, June 7 – Microsoft
Tuesday, June 8 – Nintendo
Wednesday, June 9 – Sony
They’re all written out already, so you can guarantee that they’ll be up here on time. And you’ll want to read them right when they come out. Trust me.
I’ve only got one more week of school left before summer break begins for me. What does that mean to you? Well, I plan on spending much more time with Frayed Wire during the months I have off from school than I have spent on it this whole school year. You have probably already noticed the first step in this Frayed Wire renaissance – the site’s new layout. I really like how it takes up more of the screen than the last layout did. Plus, it all just looks so clean.
Next, I want to resume doing podcasts. However, some changes will be made. For one, I will try to keep them short and sweet, since I realize that 40+ minutes is probably too long for a podcast of this (low) caliber. Also, I have a better way to record them now, so they should sound better than ever. The production values will go up in other ways as well – I plan on creating a theme song and would love to get more guests on the show. Since the new means of recording the podcasts is through a handheld pocket recorder (don’t worry – it sounds better than the laptop), splicing together a bunch of different talks I have throughout the week should be no problem.
On the gaming side of things, there’s lots to be excited about in the coming months. E3 will be here before too long, and already tons of good games have been coming out. I want to subscribe to GameFly once summer starts, so that I’ll be able to experience all the great stuff I’ve been missing throughout the year, like Alan Wake, Red Dead Redemption, Mass Effect 2, and Just Cause 2. With my added free time, my “played games to reviewed games” ratio should go up dramatically.
I’m excited, and you should be to.
Last weekend, Josh60502 and JustMattPwn3r recorded the first real podcast episode in months. The hardcore Frayed Wire X fans might have noticed that it has been on the podcast feed for a couple of days now, but for the rest of you people, I’m here to inform you that Episode 9: Back With a Vengeance is now available for download, either on PodOMatic or iTunes. I tried some new editing techniques on the recorded file, namely some amplification and noise removal. I’m not completely satisfied with it; in fact at one point I took down the episode, edited it some more, and re-uploaded the podcast. However, I do think it is an improvement over how previous episodes have been.
Here is the description of the episode as seen on both of the previously mentioned places:
*Note*: The other two recordings Josh60502 and JoeWillBeatJohn made in addition to the District 9 review have been lost forever! Sorry, but hopefully this new full-length podcast episode will make up for them….

– What we’re playing
Finally I switched from my sucktastic Scribblenauts header to something a little less… bad. Say hello to the new Uncharted 2 header! I played some of the multiplayer beta today with JoeWillBeatJohn, and I thought it was deserving of such an honor. If you don’t agree with me, then go make a better one and send it to me. I’d actually welcome it.
I thought the Metroid Prime Trilogy header was getting a little outdated, so last night I decided to switch headers. Seriously, I loved that Metroid header, but sometimes you just have to move on. Scribblenauts, the DS game that won numerous E3 awards and caught my own personal interest, came out recently, so that seemed like the perfect choice. Unfortunately, not many good croppable images of it exist, so the best I could do in the limited time I spent making the header didn’t end up being very great.
If anyone has any good Scribblenauts pictures I could make a header out of, send them my way. Also appreciated would be ideas for Frayed Wire headers. If you’ve got any, leave a comment.
